Springtime at Beardsley Gardens!

Deutzia gracilis 'Nikko'

Spring rain on our Deutzia gracilis ‘Nikko’.

Much needed rain I might add…things here are really popping now.

Leaves on our Japanese Maples are all out and looking gorgeous!  Some really cool and new varieties this year.

Acer palmatum 'Seiryu'

This Acer palmatum ‘Seiryu’ is an upright Japanese Maple with dissected leaves!  Really beautiful.  15 to 18 feet tall at maturity and gorgeous gold/orange red fall color.  Sun to part shade.

You can see a close up of the dissected leaves below.  Truly an outstanding tree.

John Muir in the New World

The Moviehouse, Millerton, NY

Beardsley Gardens is proud to be a sponsor of the documentary John Muir In the New World showing at it’s east coast premiere on April 3rd at The Moviehouse in Millerton, NY at 11:00am.  The event is a benefit for THE ARTS FUND for Region One.

John Muir was a preservationist, naturalist, author, explorer, activist, scientist and farmer.  He is revered as the father of the environmental movement and the founder of the Sierra Club.  The documentary delves into Muir’s life and influences explaining through magnificent and stunning images his impact on our nation’s most important naturals assets in his time and in ours.

The producer, director and writer of the film, Catherine Tatge and her husband, executive producer, Dominque Lasseur will be at the screening for a pre show reception and a post film question and answer session.  They are both residents of our lovely Cornwall, CT.

Hope to see you there!

Mohican Wind Harps

We are now the proud dealers of Mohican Wind Harps.  They are quite possibly the coolest thing we’ve seen in a long time.  It was quite windy today when they arrived so we immediately took them outside to try them out.  The sound was incredible – like a Celtic nymph singing to us – or at least that’s what we all agreed at the time.  I’ll post more later on these fabulous new finds – but in the mean time please come on by to check them out!

Seeds are here!

And thank goodness.  Something spring-like for me to think about after all this snow.  I do have to say that hearing the drip, drip, drip of the snow melting off the roof is having a heart-lifting effect on me.

Beardsley Gardens is proud to say that for the second year we are carrying Botanical Interest Seeds.  They are a family owned and operated company that pledges that no seeds are genetically modified and all seeds are untreated.  We also are carrying a mixture of traditional seeds and organic varieties.  Come on by and see us and our seeds….. we certainly could use the company!

If you’d like to find out more about Botanical Interests – here is their website:
